Cookie Policy
Last Updated: 2 May 2025
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They help the site work as expected — remembering your preferences, measuring how pages are used, and in some cases enabling features that need a small amount of persistent data. They do not carry personal information in themselves; rather, they store a small identifier that the website can read on subsequent visits.
In addition to cookies, we use a similar technology called local storage, which works in the same way but is stored directly in your browser rather than sent back to the server with each request. Our cookie consent preference is stored using local storage.
2. How We Use Cookies
Sukhothai Atelier's website is intentionally modest in its use of tracking. We do not operate advertising networks, sell data to third parties, or use cookies for behavioural profiling. The cookies and storage items we use are described below.
Essential — always active
These are necessary for the website to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking basic features.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cookieConsent |
Local Storage | Records your cookie consent choice so the banner is not shown again on subsequent visits. | Persistent (until browser storage is cleared) |
| Session cookie | Session | Maintains your session as you navigate between pages. No personal data is stored. | Deleted when browser is closed |
Analytics — subject to consent
If you accept analytics cookies, we may use a privacy-respecting analytics service to understand how visitors use our site in aggregate — for example, which pages are most visited or which devices are most common. This data is not linked to any individual and is used solely to help us improve the site.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Google Analytics visitor counting and session tracking, where enabled. IP addresses are anonymised. | Up to 2 years |
Functional — subject to consent
Functional cookies enable features that make the site more useful, such as remembering form field entries to avoid re-typing.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| maps_* (Google Maps) | Third-party | Set by an embedded Google Maps frame to show our workshop location. Google's own cookie and privacy policies apply. | Varies (Google-controlled) |
3. Third-Party Cookies
Our website embeds a Google Maps frame on the homepage to help visitors find our workshop. When this loads, Google may set its own cookies subject to Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. We have no control over the cookies set by Google or other embedded services.
We do not embed social media widgets, advertising pixels, or other third-party tracking scripts beyond those listed in this policy.
4. Your Choices
When you first visit our website, a small banner asks whether you accept non-essential cookies. You may accept or decline at that point. Your preference is saved in your browser's local storage.
You may also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View and delete individual cookies or all cookies stored by a site.
- Block cookies from specific sites or from all sites.
- Be notified when a website attempts to set a cookie.
Note that disabling all cookies may affect the normal functioning of some features. Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers can be found at:
5. Withdrawing Consent
If you have previously accepted non-essential cookies and wish to withdraw that consent, you may clear the cookieConsent item from your browser's local storage for our domain, or clear all site data through your browser settings. On your next visit the consent banner will appear again.
For guidance on clearing local storage, refer to your browser's help documentation or contact us and we will walk you through it.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy if we add new features to the site or if third-party services we use change their practices. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. We will note significant changes in the same way as updates to our Privacy Policy.
