Why Entrust Us
What Sets the Atelier Apart
Dedicated Workshop
A single-purpose atelier focused entirely on mechanical timepieces — not a counter inside a larger shop.
Written Assessments
We put our findings and recommendations in writing before any work proceeds, so there are no unwelcome surprises.
Unhurried Pace
Fine watchwork cannot be rushed. We schedule at a pace that lets each piece receive the attention it needs.
No Obligation Assessment
After your initial assessment, you are free to take your watch elsewhere. We recommend only what we believe is worthwhile.
Service Warranty
Completed service work carries a warranty covering our labour, giving you peace of mind beyond collection day.
Plain Language Updates
We explain our findings in clear terms and welcome questions throughout the process — no technical jargon required.
Common Questions
Things People Often Ask
How long does a basic service typically take?
A basic service generally takes two to four weeks from the time your watch arrives with us. We work carefully rather than quickly, and we will keep you informed if the timeline changes.
Will you tell me the cost before you start work?
Yes. We always provide a written assessment and cost estimate before any work begins. If you decide not to proceed after the assessment, we charge only a modest inspection fee, which is explained in advance.
My watch is old and I am unsure of its value — is it worth servicing?
Sentimental value is a perfectly good reason to have a watch looked after. We will give you an honest view of its condition and what a service would involve, and leave the decision entirely with you. We never push toward unnecessary work.
Do you work on quartz watches as well as mechanical ones?
Our atelier specialises in mechanical movements. For quartz watches we can assist with battery replacement and case servicing, though complex quartz movement repairs may be referred elsewhere. Please contact us to discuss your specific piece.
Can I leave my watch with you directly, or should I contact you first?
You are welcome to call or email ahead, and we are also happy to receive walk-ins during workshop hours. Contacting us first can be useful for restoration enquiries so we can set aside time to discuss your piece thoroughly.
What does a comprehensive restoration involve exactly?
A restoration covers full movement disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning of components, replacement of worn parts where necessary, re-lubrication, regulation, and where relevant, conservation of original finishing. We prepare a written plan before work begins and discuss each decision with you.
